Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue in which she earned the Emmy Award. Her most well-known role is her performance as a character in All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives. Delaney was the only daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a household worker. She grew up in a family with four other brothers. As a young girl, she wanted to be a court-reporter. In highschool, when she started modeling for commercials, and later after moving to New York. Her first acting job was as a teenager in All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney is well-known as an actress, appearing featured in a variety of television shows, and dramas. Like her career however, her private life has not been easy or prosperous. The gifted actress was struggling to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fall apart. She was divorced in 2005 and was denied custody of the only child she was born with.
